Both, the Oak Tree Inn at Balmaha and the Rowardennan Youth Hostel also provide good quality budget accommodation to suit the slimmer purse.

The delightful tiny village of Balmaha, situated on the quiet eastern shore of the Loch, is an ideal base for your holiday. There is a good variety of different accommodation, a cosy pub with an excellent selection of whiskies, a good restaurant, a beach for a refreshing dip at the end of the day and lovely shore walks for your evening stroll.

This great BB is our special recommendation: its owner, Liz, is wonderfully hospitable and welcoming, her breakfasts range from exotic fruit extravaganzas to the hearty Scottish cooked variety and her rooms are so comfortable that you may run danger of wanting a sleep in every day instead of getting up for a hike!

Passfoot Cottage

Betty's lovely and cosy cottage sits in a unique position on the West Highland Way overlooking Balmaha Bay and out over the south of the loch. The picturesque garden slopes down to the loch side and is an ideal spot for morning coffee. You'll be very comfortable and love your breakfast in Betty's super cosy kitchen.

Rowardennan Lodge Hostel

Rowardennan is a lovely setting, right on the banks of the famous Loch Lomond. Relax and enjoy the magnificent views from the Hostel lounge. Laze on the beach, fish, or walk the West Highland Way, which passes close to the Hostel door. Ben Lomond (3,192ft), Scotland's most southerly Munro, is a fine walk hillwalk.
